Proteaceae
Together with our members, we have been growing potted Proteaceae since 2000 and hold exclusive rights for the European market on several varieties.
Today, the collection includes over 200 types, including Protea, Leucospermum, Leucadendron, Telopea, Banksia, Grevillea, Serruria.
Proteas are native to the Southern Hemisphere, with a particular concentration in South Africa. Their name was coined in 1735 by Linnaeus: upon examining specimens received from South Africa, the scholar was struck by their extraordinary variety of forms. For this reason, he chose to dedicate them to Proteus, the Greek deity renowned for his ability to change shape, assuming many different animal forms.
For over 25 years, Flora Toscana has made these plants a distinctive element of its offering, cultivating numerous potted varieties, many of which are distributed exclusively within the European market. The entire production chain is also GlobalG.A.P. certified, ensuring high quality standards.
The Camellia Collection
Nineteenth-Century Camellias
The Tuscan camellias of the nineteenth century originated between Lucca and Florence and, to us, they represent a precious heritage. Propagating and cultivating these historic varieties is not merely a commercial opportunity, but a tangible way to protect them from genetic erosion and to keep their history alive.
We guarantee high quality standards and full compliance with good environmental practices: all our potted plant production is GlobalG.A.P. certified.
Fragrant Camellias
A niche product recently rediscovered and enhanced by Flora Toscana. These are hybrids that flower in late winter to early spring (February–March), like common camellias, but are distinguished by their abundance of blooms which, although small to medium in size, release an intense fragrance with spicy notes reminiscent of cinnamon, clove and tea.
They are vigorous plants, resistant to low winter temperatures, and well suited to cultivation in our gardens.
Special Camellias
Camellias with extraordinary characteristics: rare flower forms, variegated foliage of great ornamental value, and varieties selected for their remarkable abundance of buds.
