Flora Toscana soc. agr. coop., operating in the agricultural sector and based in PESCIA (PT), participates as lead partner in a PIF (Integrated Supply Chain Project) within the floriculture and nursery supply chain, entitled GREEN: Flora and Future.
Through this project, the company aims to pursue a number of important production, environmental and commercial objectives, necessary to give new impetus and development to the supply chain. Within the PIF, sub-measures 16.2, 16.3 and 1.2 will also be activated in support of the overall project, in collaboration with universities, research bodies and training agencies recognised by the Tuscany Region. With this project, Flora Toscana soc. agr. coop., in collaboration with Flor-Export soc. coop., intends to achieve key objectives (production, environmental and commercial) necessary to recover added value on the raw materials of primary agricultural producers and to overcome the critical issues in the floriculture and nursery supply chain identified by the lead partner. The interventions will be aimed at achieving the following objectives:
- Introduction of technological innovation in agricultural businesses to optimise processing operations, harvesting methods and storage systems for the products obtained
- Reduction of primary production costs through the improvement of equipment and agricultural structures, including systems that incorporate methods and technologies for reducing energy consumption
- Increase in raw material processing capacity, and improvement of logistics and marketing
- Enhancement of the products obtained, also through participation in pilot innovation projects and cooperation projects linked to the development of innovative techniques for preserving finished products, as well as the development of marketing and commercialisation actions
- Increasing producers’ knowledge through a project focused on information transfer and training
